Venosha & Kasturi, the rising stars of badminton

Kuala Lumpur, September 25: R Kasturi and R Venosha of the national women’s badminton doubles won again another match at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) badminton competition yesterday- Varnam
Top seeds Kasturi, 21, and Venosha, 20, won in three sets, 21-19, 19-21, 21-13, with 36 minutes of battle at the Axiata Arena, according to Bernama.
“In the second set, we were opposing the drought and had no tactic for maintaining the match under control”. Whereupon we begun to obtain a major advantage, and after switching sides, we already realised how to control the game, as per Bernama.
“Sukma is a highly regarded competition in the nation for rising talents, so we desperately need this gold. As a result, when we go out for competitions, it will raise our profile and benefit us secure funding”, Venosha, a 20-year-old girl, told Bernama.
The duo, who train under New Vision Badminton Academy, furthermore replicated their win at the 2019 Fleet Mauritius International tournament as the up-and-coming women’s doubles champions.
On June 16, they took home the women’s doubles championship. The team earned a whopping US$800 after defeating local competitors Aurelie Marie Elisa Allet and Kobita Dookhee 21-14, 21-14.
As per Bernama, after the Sukma, Kasturi-Venosha will compete at the Vietnam Open the following week, accompanied by the Indonesian International Challenge from October 11–16 and the Indonesian Masters from October 18–23.
