The latest film by Tamil cinema icon Thalapathy Vijay, titled The Greatest of All Time or GOAT, has made a solid impression at the box office on its debut day. This movie marks a significant point in Vijay’s career as it is his penultimate film before, he transitions into the political arena.

On its opening day, the film achieved an impressive Rs 43 crore in domestic box office revenue. A substantial portion of this earnings came from Tamil-language screenings, which alone contributed Rs 38.3 crore to the total. This substantial first-day collection underscores Thalapathy Vijay’s continued dominance and influence in the box office realm.

Following its release, the film’s Telugu and Hindi showings garnered impressive earnings of Rs 3 crore and Rs 1.7 crore, respectively, according to the film trade portal Sacnilk. This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering that “Thalapathy Is The GOAT,” the Hindi adaptation of “The Greatest of All Time,” has not been featured in major national multiplex chains such as PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis in North India.

The absence of the Hindi version from these prominent cinema chains stems from the filmmakers’ failure to meet the prescribed theatrical release guidelines. These regulations mandate that all new Hindi films must observe an 8-week interval between their theatrical release and their availability on OTT platforms.

Nevertheless, PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis did showcase the non-Hindi versions of the film in the South Indian regions. The film’s reception has been mixed; while Thalapathy Vijay’s dual role performance received praise from some viewers, others criticized the film for its thin plot.

Due to this, the film did not quite reach the opening day collections of Leo. The film, which stars Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan, had an impressive debut, raking in Rs 64.8 crore on its first day at the domestic box office.

Directed and written by Venkat Prabhu, Leo centers around Gandhi, an operative with the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS). After a long period of service, Gandhi is summoned for a crucial mission. The cast includes Thalapathy Vijay, Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Sneha, Jayaram, Yogi Babu, and Mohan, each playing pivotal roles.

The Greatest of All Time made its theatrical debut globally on September 5, available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
