59-Year-Old Man Feared Attacked by Crocodile While Fishing in Kuala Baram

23 SEPTEMBER: A 59-year-old man, Minggu anak Ikum, is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile while fishing at Batu 4, Kuala Baram near Miri yesterday. Minggu had gone to check on his fishing nets but failed to return home by 5pm, raising concerns.

After being unable to reach his father by phone, his son went to the riverbank and found only his father’s belongings, alongside torn fishing nets and crocodile tracks. Fearing the worst, the son alerted local villagers, and a search was launched.

Despite their efforts, Minggu remained missing. The son lodged a police report, and the Fire and Rescue Department was notified at 5.55pm. A search team from Lutong Fire and Rescue Station, along with villagers, scoured the area but could not locate him. The search continues today as stated in NST.
