27 SEPTEMBER: The upcoming Seri Angkasa Awards (ASA) 2024 has received 1,860 nominations across three categories, reflecting a 17% increase compared to the 1,585 entries submitted in 2022. This notable growth highlights the rising recognition and participation in Malaysia’s creative industry.
According to a statement from the ASA 2024 Promotion and Publicity Committee, the majority of the nominations—1,287—were for the television category, followed by 515 for radio, and 58 for new media. A total of 60 awards will be presented, with the top five nominees in each category selected through evaluations by a panel of professional judges.
Organised by the Ministry of Communications, the awards aim to celebrate the achievements of Malaysia’s broadcasting talents while promoting creative works to a wider audience. The initiative also seeks to strengthen the country’s creative community and elevate the potential of the orange economy, which focuses on the creative sector.
The increase in nominations this year reflects the growing prominence of the Seri Angkasa Awards as a prestigious platform for recognising excellence in broadcasting and media as stated in NST.
