8th November: Malaysian passport holders are granted visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 182 countries, according to the Henley Passport Index. This places Malaysia in 14th position globally, showcasing the strength of its passport. The index highlights that Malaysians can travel to popular destinations such as Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand without the need for a visa.
In addition to Southeast Asia, Malaysian citizens can also visit countries in Europe, the Americas, and Oceania with relative ease. Notably, they can enter countries like Turkey and the Maldives without prior visa arrangements. The index reflects Malaysia’s consistent improvement in international mobility, allowing its citizens greater freedom to explore various regions.
The report emphasizes the importance of a strong passport for enhancing travel opportunities and fostering global connections. As international travel continues to recover post-pandemic, having a robust passport can significantly benefit Malaysian travelers seeking new experiences abroad.
Furthermore, the Malaysian government is actively working to enhance its diplomatic relations, which may lead to even more countries offering visa-free access in the future. This development is expected to further boost tourism and business opportunities for Malaysians looking to expand their horizons internationally. With a strong passport ranking, Malaysian citizens are well-positioned to take advantage of the growing trend of global mobility, as stated in Astro Ulagam.
