KUALA LUMPUR, April 15, 2025 — Former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi passed away on April 14 at the age of 85.
He died peacefully at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur after being admitted for breathing difficulties.
Abdullah, fondly known as “Pak Lah,” served as Malaysia’s fifth prime minister from 2003 to 2009.
He is remembered for his soft-spoken leadership and emphasis on moderate Islam.
Condolences have poured in from across the country and the region, with national flags flown at half-mast.
He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.Funeral arrangements are underway, and a state ceremony is expected.
