KUALA LUMPUR, 30 July 2025: Indian authorities have announced a significant extension of the gratis 30-day double-entry e-Tourist visa for Malaysian nationals, a facility that will now be available until December 31, 2026. This extension, confirmed by the Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, continues to allow Malaysians to visit India without incurring visa fees for short recreational and sightseeing trips.

The decision was officially communicated to ensure continued ease of travel between the two nations. This e-Tourist visa is specifically for stays of up to 30 days with double entry, and no visa fees will be charged for this particular category.

However, it is important to note that this fee waiver applies exclusively to the 30-day e-Tourist visa. For all other categories of e-visas, such as e-Business, e-Conference, e-Medical, e-Medical Attendant, e-Ayush, and e-Emergency visas, applicants will still be required to pay the standard prescribed fees. Similarly, individuals who opt for traditional paper visas through outsourced service providers or directly from the High Commission will also continue to be subject to the usual visa fees.

Malaysian nationals interested in availing this free e-Tourist visa must apply online through the official Indian e-visa portal. Existing rules and guidelines for e-Tourist visas and other e-visas, as detailed on the official website, will remain in effect. This extension builds upon previous arrangements, further strengthening the travel ties between India and Malaysia.
