SINGAPORE, 24 September 2025: The Lion Group will move its operations to Changi Airport’s Terminal 4 in November and begin daily flights to three Malaysian cities in December. The group, which includes Batik Air Indonesia, Batik Air Malaysia, and Thai Lion Air, stated that the relocation is intended to support its future growth and cater to rising demand for air travel in the region.
The new daily flights will connect Singapore with Subang, Ipoh, and Penang. The launch of the Subang route is particularly notable, as the airport is a key hub located just 25km from Kuala Lumpur’s city center, significantly closer than Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), which is 60km away. The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore corridor has consistently been one of the world’s busiest international routes. The new Subang flights, to be operated by Batik Air Malaysia, will compete with existing low-cost carriers Scoot and Firefly.
Following the relocation, Terminal 4 will house a total of 20 airlines, including 10 full-service and 10 low-cost carriers. The larger Lion Group currently operates 88 weekly services that connect Singapore with major cities like Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok, with future expansion plans for more flights from additional Thai cities also in the pipeline.
