Key Characteristics of Submissions:
Originality: All submissions must be original, unpublished work.
Accuracy: All facts, figures, and statements must be thoroughly researched and verifiable.
Clarity & Conciseness: Write in a clear, engaging, and easy-to-understand manner.
Objectivity (where applicable): News analysis should strive for balance, while opinion pieces should clearly state their position with supporting arguments.
Relevance: Content should be relevant to our readership, often with a focus on Malaysia and broader Asian/global contexts.
Constructive Tone: Even critical pieces should aim to foster constructive dialogue.
Submission Guidelines
Please review these guidelines carefully before submitting your pitch or draft:
Pitch First: For all submissions, we prefer a brief pitch (200-300 words) outlining your proposed topic, main argument (if applicable), target audience, and why it’s relevant to The Hindu Press. Include a brief bio and any relevant writing samples.
Subject Line for Pitches: PITCH: [Your Proposed Topic]
Word Count:
Opinion/Commentary: 600-800 words
News Analysis/Features: 800-1200 words (longer pieces may be considered with prior agreement)
Formatting:
Submit in a clear, readable font (e.g., Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman) with 1.5 or double line spacing.
Use headings and subheadings to break up your text.
Include a concise, compelling headline.
Provide sources for all factual claims (hyperlinks preferred for online sources).
Author Bio: Include a short (50-75 words) author bio with your submission, along with a high-resolution headshot. You may include links to your website or social media profiles.
Exclusivity: By submitting to The Hindu Press, you agree that your work, if accepted, will be exclusively published on our platform for a period of [e.g., 30 days] before being published elsewhere.
Editing Process: Our editorial team will review all submissions. We reserve the right to edit for clarity, grammar, style, factual accuracy, and length. We may also suggest revisions.
Response Time: We aim to respond to all pitches and submissions within 2-4 weeks. Due to the volume of submissions, we may not be able to provide detailed feedback for every piece not accepted.
Remuneration: [IMPORTANT: Decide on your policy here. Common options are: unpaid contribution for exposure, small honorarium, or per-word rate. State clearly.]
Example (Unpaid): While we currently do not offer monetary compensation for contributions, we provide a prominent platform for your voice, exposure to a wide readership, and a valuable addition to your portfolio.
