SHAH ALAM — A sudden river bund collapse late last night submerged dozens of homes in Banting, triggering immediate rescue operations and emergency tracking by local authorities.
The breach occurred around 11:00 PM on June 24, 2026, along a river section roughly 800 meters from Taman Langat Utama 2 in RTB Bukit Changgang. The structural failure sent water rushing directly toward the residential zone, ultimately impacting 32 houses. Fortunately, a majority of the neighborhood residents anticipated the danger and evacuated before the waters reached their doorsteps.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department responded swiftly after receiving an emergency distress call at 4:12 AM on June 25. Six specialized officers from the Banting fire station arrived on-site by 4:35 AM to manage relief coordination, assess structural risks, and monitor the water levels.
Operations director Ashrul Riezal Asbar confirmed that rescue personnel remain active on the ground. The department continues to urge any remaining citizens within the risk zone to move to designated safety shelters immediately while mitigation efforts proceed.
