Denes urges Netflix, Amazon Prime to support M’sian Tamil cinema

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19: Local Tamil film producer R. Denes Kumar has urged Over-the-Top (OTT) platform players, namely Netflix and Amazon Prime to support Malaysian Tamil film industries by giving more space treleasing their productions on their platforms.
“Local Tamil film makers have also won many awards at international film festivals and have improved their film making qualities.
“It will be more useful for the local film industry’s growth if they (OTT platforms) give importance to local Tamil content as well,” he told The Hindu Press when contacted.
“We can gain more revenue if our local films stream at other countries such as India,” he added.
“We hope for a positive response from the OTT platforms”, Denes, who is also the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) board member, said.
