KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has appointed Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the ninth prime minister.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new prime minister is scheduled for 2.30pm tomorrow, Istana Negara said in a statement today.
According to the statement, 114 MPs have nominated Ismail Sabri as the prime minister, which is a sufficient majority to form the government.
“The next process (for Ismail Sabri) will be receiving the instrument of appointment, taking the oath of office and signing the oath of office as the Prime Minister, which is scheduled for 2.30 pm on Aug 21, 2021, at Istana Negara,” Istana Negara said.
