FAMA Expands B2B Digital Ecosystem to Secure National Agro-Food Supply Chain

KUALA LUMPUR — The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is accelerating its digital marketing ecosystem for the national agro-food sector, assembling approximately 200 industry stakeholders at the Agroborong Malaysia 2026 Seminar.

The engagement session focused primarily on scaling the utilization of Agroborong.com, a business-to-business (B2B) digital trading platform that connects agricultural producers directly with wholesalers, retailers, institutional buyers, and industry players. By removing traditional intermediary friction, the platform aims to establish a more structured, transparent, and efficient marketing network in alignment with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) aspirations.

Steady Market Adoption and Agribusiness Financing Integration The digital marketplace has recorded consistent traction across domestic agricultural networks. According to updated FAMA metrics released at the seminar:

  • Total Onboarded Users – 4,348 registered users have joined the platform to date.

  • Active Core Traders – Nearly 1,000 active users, encompassing both primary producers and bulk buyers across various agro-food sub-sectors, utilize the ecosystem regularly.

FAMA officials used the seminar as a direct mechanism to secure player feedback to optimize the platform against shifting, dynamic market realities. To incentivize higher transaction volumes and shield entrepreneurs from cash-flow crunches, the session integrated strategic briefings on commercial financing opportunities and dedicated business support frameworks managed by Agrobank.

Public-Private Pact Launched to Award Agricultural Innovation The seminar also served as the venue for an institutional public-private partnership. FAMA officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with agrotech firm Crop Power Sdn Bhd to jointly implement the Malaysia Farming Award (MFA).

The newly launched award framework is designed to formally recognize local farmer excellence across four critical operational benchmarks: productivity, innovation, modern technology adoption, and good agricultural practices.

According to FAMA, this strategic collaboration is projected to accelerate the deployment of digital technology, expand critical industry networks, and open deep avenues of public-private collaboration. The long-term objective remains centered on transforming the national agro-food sector to bolster the competitive standing of Malaysian agropreneurs at both domestic and international levels.
