26 SEPTEMBER: Police in Kluang have detained a man and a woman to assist in an investigation into suspected child abuse. The arrests were made after a doctor at Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Kalsom alerted authorities upon noticing signs of abuse on a child’s body. The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, following a police report from the hospital’s emergency ward.
Both individuals have no prior criminal records, and initial urine tests came back negative for any illegal substances. The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a fine, or both.
The suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist in the investigation. Police are urging anyone with further information to contact their nearest station or the Kluang Police Headquarters as stated in BULETIN TV3.
