A National Tribute to a Century of Service

The commemorative coin, issued by the Government of India, symbolises Sai Baba’s legacy of compassion and his philosophy of “Love All, Serve All.” Modi said the coin serves as a national reminder of Sai Baba’s lifelong mission to uplift humanity and promote unity beyond caste, creed, and religion.

The Prime Minister added that the centenary year offers an opportunity for the nation to re-embrace the values Sai Baba championed- universal love, selfless service, and spiritual discipline.

Released at Prasanthi Nilayam

The unveiling took place at Prasanthi Nilayam, the global spiritual centre established by Sai Baba in Puttaparthi. Modi paid respects at the Mahasamadhi before joining devotees and Trust members for the centenary programme.

Officials from the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust noted that the coin reflects India’s recognition of Sai Baba’s contributions, especially in building free hospitals, schools, and drinking water projects that continue to serve millions.

Symbolism Behind the Coin

The coin features:

  • An engraved likeness of Sri Sathya Sai Baba
  • The inscription commemorating his 100th birth anniversary
  • National emblems reflecting India’s respect for his humanitarian work

Economic analysts say commemorative coins like this one often become cultural artefacts, valued not only by collectors but also by devotees who regard them as symbols of blessings and remembrance.

Part of Wider Centenary Celebrations

The coin release is one of several key events planned for the centenary year, which includes service activities, cultural programmes, and expansions of Sai Baba’s charitable initiatives. Modi praised the Trust for continuing the spiritual leader’s mission through education, healthcare, and social welfare projects.

He emphasised that the centenary is not merely a ceremonial milestone, but a call to continue Sai Baba’s message of unity and service: “The world is one family.”
