Kuala Lumpur, March 31- Universiti Malaya’s Kolej Kediaman Tuanku Bahiyah and the Tamil Language Society recently announced the launch of Projek Varna 2026. This community outreach initiative aims to bridge the gap between university students and children from welfare homes through a vibrant celebration of Indian heritage. Organizers designed the program to foster social inclusivity while providing young orphans with a joyful and memorable cultural experience. By centring the event on traditional customs, the project promotes deep appreciation for diversity among the next generation of leaders.
The program features a series of interactive competitions and traditional games to encourage teamwork and mentorship. University volunteers will guide children through the Pongal Cook-Off Challenge and the high-energy Break the Uri Challenge, a traditional pot-breaking game. These activities serve as practical lessons in cultural history while building the children’s confidence and social skills. Participants will work in integrated teams to ensure every child receives personal attention and support throughout the festivities.
Beyond the main competitions, attendees can explore a variety of immersive cultural booths scattered across the venue. Specialized stations will offer traditional Indian cuisine, intricate henna art, and sessions on classic arts and crafts. Younger participants can also enjoy the goli game booth, introducing them to traditional marbles and other heritage-based pastimes. The organizing committee is currently inviting Universiti Malaya students and the general public to register as volunteers or participants.
