KUALA LUMPUR – Primary school students from SJK (T) Castlefield have achieved historic success at the World Young Inventors Exhibition (WYIE) held from May 18 to 19, 2026. Competing at a highly competitive international level, four elite teams proved that age is no barrier to engineering real-world solutions. The young innovators captured three prestigious Gold Medals and one Silver Medal for their school.

Breaking Down the Gold Medal Innovations

The first gold medal was awarded to the creators of the Dustfree Drillmate 2.0, an inventive attachment engineered for home construction and renovation tasks. The brilliant student team consisted of Dhanisha Loganathan, Vanshika Veeran, Kaavyashree Siva Kumaran, and Jhanieshaa Ganesan. Together, they designed a smart, practical, and highly effective vacuum companion that captures fine drilling debris at the exact point of impact, protecting respiratory health and keeping workspaces completely clean.

Securing the second gold medal was the I2FAS – IoT Flash Flood Alert System, a critical environmental safety project built by Lashthiykaa Sasekumar, Steyna Sureshkumar, Shaswat Suresh, Tannishtha Suresh, Kavinesh Kumaran, and Kartigaa Kannan. Recognizing the dangers of sudden monsoon surges, this group developed an automated prototype that uses smart sensors to track rising water levels. The device transmits real-time internet alerts and activates visual alarms to give vulnerable communities ample time to evacuate safely.

The third gold medal was captured by the team behind the No Leak Garbage Bag, which featured the engineering talents of Hereesh Sivananthan, Vaishnavii Jagan, Khishen Vel Raj Gogula Murugan, Harshavartine Shanmuganathan, and Darvessh Ragu Raj. This team focused on urban sanitation by engineering a specialized waste management solution equipped with integrated liquid-absorbing properties. Their smart design neutralizes odors and prevents messy household spills, significantly improving hygiene for residential trash collection.

Smart Silver Success for Classroom Solutions

SJK (T) Castlefield also made a strong impression in the educational technology category with the Teacher’s Helper – Automated Classroom Noise Management system, which earned a prestigious Silver Medal. The design team included Sri Abiirami, Lavannya Vijiyan, Yiroshan Sai Sivakumar, Damian Matthew Emmanuel, and Immacula Akshaya.

Driven by empathy for their educators, these students used audio monitoring hardware to track ambient decibel levels in crowded environments. The system triggers gentle, automated reminders when volumes rise too high, effectively helping teachers maintain an optimal and stress-free learning atmosphere.

A Brilliant Vision For The Future

This historic international sweep underscores a fantastic shift in primary education, where young learners no longer just memorize textbook theories but actively build working engineering models. By turning internet-connected technology and environmental science into practical solutions, these young innovators have shown that Malaysia’s next generation of technical leaders is highly capable.

As these brilliant teams return to school with their international medals, their collective success stands as an inspiring blueprint for young minds nationwide. With structured guidance and hands-on STEM opportunities, grassroots school innovations can easily rise to dominate the global stage.
