JOHOR BAHRU — The long-awaited relocation of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Ladang Sungai Muar in Segamat has taken a significant step forward, officially advancing to the land ownership finalisation stage. The legal and administrative process is currently being expedited in structural collaboration with the Segamat Land and Mines Office.
The development milestone was confirmed by Segamat Member of Parliament (MP) R. Yuneswaran during an official stakeholder engagement session held at the school facility. The high-profile briefing gained substantial momentum with the personal attendance of Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, signalling federal urgency behind the institutional shift.

Resolving Historical Safety and Logistics Deficits
The initiative to structurally move SJKT Ladang Sungai Muar comes after years of ongoing issues with its original location. According to parliamentary records, Yuneswaran has actively and consistently championed the relocation since being elected to office in the 2022 general election.
The primary catalysts necessitating the immediate relocation include,
- Critical Safety Hazards – Ongoing physical threats to the student population due to the facility’s vulnerability to environmental and structural hazards.
- Geographic Isolation – The school’s challenging distance from core residential areas makes the daily commute difficult for local community families.
- Severe Infrastructure Deficits: Declining physical facilities that fail to meet modern, conducive educational standards.
“The Minister’s presence today proves that this matter is being taken seriously and highlights the importance of efforts to relocate the school,” Yuneswaran stated in an official press release following the site tour. He expressed deep gratitude to the Ministry of Education (KPM) for intervening to ensure local children can learn in a safer, more comfortable, and supportive school environment.
Ensuring Federal Oversight and Compliance
The fast-tracked development falls directly under federal education equity goals. The administration has formally committed to closely tracking the project’s milestones to prevent any bureaucratic delays.
“The MADANI Government remains committed to prioritising education,” Yuneswaran reinforced. “I will continue to monitor developments on this matter and follow up until the relocation of SJKT Ladang Sungai Muar is successfully carried out”. With the land ownership phase now active, subsequent phases will transition to structural site design and construction allocations to safely house the student body.
