Professional Chefs Train Youth in a Healthy Heritage Cooking Skills

BANTING– The United Malaysian Hindu Voice (UMHV) has launched a comprehensive empowerment drive designed to bridge the gap between ancient cultural traditions and modern professional success for youth. The initiatives focused on giving young people practical life skills, ranging from sustainable heritage cooking to advanced entrepreneurial strategies. Organisers hope these sessions will give the younger generation the confidence they need to handle modern economic pressures.

Hands-on Training with Professional Chefs

The community drive kicked off with an immersive workshop titled “Culinary for Survival”. Held under the guidance of professional chefs, the hands-on session introduced participants to nutritious, cost-effective vegetarian cooking using authentic recipes passed down through generations.

The program did not just teach basic kitchen safety and food preparation. It also featured a deep dive into the science of traditional banana leaf dining. Experts demonstrated how the precise sequence and placement of dishes on the leaf actively aids digestion and supports balanced nutrition, proving that ancient eco-friendly habits still offer great value for healthy modern living.

Unlocking Career Growth and Business Secrets

Moving from the kitchen to the corporate stage, UMHV also hosted a dynamic “Dialogue Session on Career & Entrepreneurship”. Moderated by youth fellowship chairperson Ms. Sangkeetha Pubalan, the forum brought in established industry leaders to share honest blueprints for commercial survival.

The expert panel included Chef Ramaeswaran Paramaeswaran, President of the Malaysian Indian Chef Associations, Chef Kuberan Annantharajan, R&D Chef & Entrepreneur and Ms. Nagammal V Thiyagarajan, Founder of Master Boutique. The speakers tackled critical topics like the necessity of constant upskilling, navigating market changes, and transforming raw business ideas into sustainable local enterprises.

A Sustainable Roadmap for Community Resilience

The events highlight a growing shift toward holistic community development. By merging identity preservation with financial literacy, the platform helps youth think boldly about their financial futures without losing touch with their roots.

UMHV stated that providing direct access to professional mentorship remains the most effective way to build a progressive, self-reliant community. Following the strong turnout, the group aims to expand these career and lifestyle workshops to other states later this year.
