New RM3 Entry Fee and 10-Minute Limit for KLIA T1 E-Hailing Zone

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has introduced upgraded e-hailing pick-up facilities at KLIA Terminal 1, accompanied by a RM3 entry fee for e-hailing drivers entering the designated pickup zone, effective today.

The new system—located at Level 1 of the Main Terminal Building—integrates License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology with real-time Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS), automated self-service kiosks, air-conditioned waiting lounges, structured loading bays, and on-ground traffic marshals.

According to MAHB, the automated barriers will curb illegal touts and ensure only verified e-hailing drivers can access the pickup bays.

“To sustain the continued operation and maintenance of these enhanced facilities and systems, an entry fee of RM3 will be introduced for every e-hailing vehicle entering the designated passenger pick-up area,” MAHB said in a statement.

While levied on the driver upon entry, such airport access fees are typically passed on to passengers as part of the total trip fare.

Strict 10-Minute Limit to Prevent Congestion

To prevent curb-side congestion, MAHB confirmed that vehicles are strictly capped at a 10-minute maximum waiting time. Vehicles exceeding this limit will face overstay penalty charges to maintain rapid turnover during peak flight arrival hours.

MAHB noted that the framework was finalized following joint engagements with e-hailing operators, the Ministry of Transport (MOT), and the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), following recommendations from the National Airport Facilitation Working Committee.
