11th April: Hindus celebrated the Panguni Uthiram festival with great devotion and joy. This important day falls on the full moon of the Tamil month Panguni, usually in March or April. It is a special time when many Hindu gods and goddesses are believed to have been
married.
According to tradition, Lord Shiva married Parvati, Lord Murugan married Deivanai, and Lord Vishnu married Lakshmi on this day. Because of this, the festival is seen as a celebration of love, marriage, and unity.
On this day, many people visit temples to offer prayers and take part in special ceremonies. Some carry milk pots, known as “paal kudam,” while others carry “kavadi” as a form of thanks or to ask for blessings. Temples are decorated with flowers and lights, and people
chant prayers and sing devotional songs.
Families come together to celebrate, and many people take part in fasting and follow spiritual practices. Panguni Uthiram reminds Hindus of the importance of family, love, and faith. It is a time to reflect, pray for blessings, and renew one’s connection with the divine.
