2 FEBRUARY: According to Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Sarawak’s economy performed well in 2024, ranking among the top five states in Malaysia for economic growth. “Sarawak is also included in that plot for our exports. In actuality, Malaysia ranks fourth in terms of exports to its partners. Put differently, Sarawak has made some progress in our economic performance in 2024,” he stated.

Speaking on Saturday night (February 1) at a Chinese New Year celebration hosted by the United Chinese Association in Sibu, Abang Johari noted that Sarawak had earned RM14.2 billion in income the previous year, a significant accomplishment he credited to the state’s sound economic policies. “We received RM14.2 billion in income, and we anticipate receiving more in 2025. As we concentrate on the new economy, this will improve and fortify our economy,” he stated.

He reaffirmed Sarawak’s dedication to the green economy, specifically with regard to hydrogen exports. “We received RM14.2 billion in income, and we anticipate receiving more in 2025. As we concentrate on the new economy, this will improve and fortify our economy,” he stated.

“We are currently working to diversify our economy as well. More employment will be created as a result of this diversification, and I want to thank the Chinese community for helping to bolster our human capital,” he said.

As a major force in Malaysia’s economy, Sarawak’s drive for a green and diverse economy, according to the premier, is consistent with its long-term goal of sustainable growth.
