3rd December – As flood conditions improve in several parts of Malaysia, the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has cautioned against complacency, warning of a potential monsoon surge starting this Sunday. The surge is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds, particularly to the east coast states of Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang.
This weather phenomenon could exacerbate flood risks in areas already affected, with residents urged to remain vigilant and adhere to local authorities’ advice. Although water levels in some rivers have receded, the possibility of heavy downpours may lead to renewed flooding in vulnerable regions.
Authorities are working to ensure that evacuation centers and emergency services are prepared to respond swiftly if the situation worsens. Malaysians are advised to monitor updates from MetMalaysia and take necessary precautions to safeguard lives and property, as stated in Free Malaysia Today.
