NILAI – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for a significant shift in the national education system, urging teachers to master emerging technologies while remaining deeply rooted in human values.
Speaking at a Temu Anwar session with staff and students at the Teacher Education Institute Technical Education Campus (IPGKPT) today, the Prime Minister highlighted the necessity of adapting to rapid global advancements. He noted that staying static is not an option if Malaysia hopes to remain competitive on the world stage.
“We must reach for the skies while keeping our roots on the ground,” the Prime Minister said.
He stressed that while technical mastery in fields like Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is vital for the future, it cannot function in a vacuum. True progress requires a balance. Educators are encouraged to embrace the digital era and artificial intelligence, but these advancements must go hand in hand with a commitment to ethics, culture, and morality.
The Prime Minister framed education as the nation’s highest priority. He argued that the ability to adapt quickly to international changes will define Malaysia’s future success. However, he also issued a stern caution regarding the social climate in schools. He noted that education fails its purpose if it allows room for hatred or prejudice against any race, urging educators to model unity for their students.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and IPGKPT director Dr. Kartini Abdul Mutalib were also in attendance during the event.
