Sivasangari Makes History as First Malaysian in PSA Tour Finals Since 2012

PARIS — Sivasangari Subramaniam delivered one of the defining performances of her career, defeating tournament top seed Amina Orfi to secure a historic spot in the PSA Squash Tour Finals showdown.

The Malaysian world No. 5 demonstrated exceptional physical resilience, battling for 74 minutes to edge out the Egyptian star with a grueling 8-11, 11-10, 11-8, 11-10 victory. The triumph marks a spectacular redemption arc for Sivasangari, who bounced back directly from a disappointing third-round exit at the recent British Open to seal her third career victory over Orfi.

With this victory, Sivasangari becomes only the second Malaysian woman in history to reach the championship match of the prestigious season-ending event. She follows in the footsteps of squash legend Datuk Nicol David, who last reached the title decider and captured the crown in 2012.

“I am incredibly happy with my performance against such a tough competitor,” Sivasangari said after the match. “The key was staying positive throughout the high-pressure rallies and making clinical decisions during the critical tie-break moments.”

Sivasangari moves into the final to square off against Egypt’s World No. 1 Hania El Hammamy, who secured her spot by defeating Fayrouz Aboelkheir in the parallel semi-final match. Backed by swelling momentum, the Malaysian star stands on the precipice of claiming the most prestigious silverware of her career
