KUALA LUMPUR, 24 November 2025: S. Yashvindra has officially secured his spot on Malaysia’s national squad for the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup 2025, scheduled to be held in Chennai and Madurai, India, from November 28 to December 10.
Yashvindra made his name playing for the UNITEN Thunder team from Universiti Tenaga Nasional, where his standout performances earned him national recognition. Known for his consistency, discipline, and sharp in-game intelligence, he has become a key figure in Malaysia’s youth hockey set-up.
This year’s Junior World Cup is especially competitive: a record 24 nations will be participating. For Yashvindra, the tournament represents not just a personal milestone, but a chance to showcase Malaysia’s growing strength in junior hockey.
Malaysia is drawn in a tough pool that includes European heavyweights, the Young Tigers’ coach has publicly warned of the high tactical threat posed by teams such as Netherlands, England, and Austria, noting that the squad is preparing specially for their style. Additionally, Malaysia is racing against time to fine-tune preparations before departure to India.
