Thava’s case: ‘Justice will take its course’ – PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3: Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has assured that justice will be served in the case of the security guard who died last Friday after being bedridden for a long time following an assault by a tenant at a condominium in Ipoh saying that ‘no one is above the law’.

“I’m saddened and appalled by this incident. Nobody is above the law. Justice must, and will take its course,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

Ismail’s tweet was in reply to Ipoh Barat MP Kulasegaran’s tweet expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for spending his time yesterday to contact and pay his respects to Thava Sagayam’s family.

“Thank you @IsmailSabri60 for taking the time to speak to the family of the late Thava Sagayam. Our PM called Philomena today but was unable to reach her.

“He spoke to the nephew. He express the feelings of many Malaysians,” Kula had tweeted earlier.

Thava Sagayam, 64, died at his home and a post-mortem by the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Ipoh, found the cause of death was due to a lung infection (sepsis).

However, the victim’s family members are claiming the cause of death was due to the assault incident and have re-uploaded recordings and photos of the incident.

Recently, a video went viral showing a the victim being assaulted while on duty at the swimming pool of a condominium here in an incident which occurred in December last year.

Two video recordings went viral showing a man accompanied by his son assaulting a security guard with a table until he fainted.
