PM Anwar Warns Rohingya Refugees To Respect Local Laws

KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 – The Malaysian government will take strict action against Rohingya refugees who break local laws. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim delivered this clear warning today. He noted that while Malaysia remains a compassionate nation, all foreign nationals must respect domestic regulations.

The government will specifically target Rohingya individuals who run illegal businesses. Local authorities will also penalize anyone who uses commercial buildings without a proper license.

Anwar shared these updates with reporters after attending Friday prayers at the Al-Hidayah Mosque in Sentul. He stressed that law enforcement must apply to everyone equally.

Strategic Government Planning

“My advice to Myanmar nationals, especially the Rohingya, is that they must obey our rules. Their buildings and their businesses must follow our regulations. If they fail to do so, we will take swift action,” Anwar said.

The Cabinet recently discussed this ongoing issue. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail took part in the planning strategy. Following that meeting, the Prime Minister urged local councils and state governments to increase their checks on commercial premises.

Many local citizens want the government to send the Rohingya refugees back to their home country. However, Anwar explained that repatriation is a difficult task. The process is currently stalled because the Myanmar military junta refuses to cooperate. The military rulers have blocked safe return routes, creating a major geopolitical deadlock.

Malaysia continues to pressure the Myanmar leadership. The government has put forward two major demands. First, the junta must allow humanitarian aid to reach people in need. Second, they must stop all violence against their own Rohingya citizens.

Finally, Anwar urged the Malaysian public to remain calm. He advised citizens not to take the law into their own hands during disputes. Instead, people should let the police and local councils handle any legal violations.
