SEREMBAN — The Federal Government has approved RM328 million for 24 development and upgrading projects across Negri Sembilan, coupled with RM26.6 million under the Bitara Madani initiative to repair 88 dilapidated clinics statewide.
The funding commitment was announced by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, effectively placing healthcare infrastructure at the center of the Pakatan Harapan–Barisan Nasional unity coalition’s re-election campaign ahead of the state polls.
Bridging Federal Capital to State Governance
In a public statement, Dr Dzulkefly framed the substantial healthcare expenditure as a direct dividend of sound financial governance under caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
“The benefits of our nation’s economic progress are not being kept for a select few. They are being channelled back to the people, particularly through the upgrading of healthcare facilities in Negri Sembilan,” Dr Dzulkefly stated, contrasting the government’s delivery record against campaign-season promises made by political rivals.
Highlighting economic performance, the Health Minister noted that total state investments grew 6.6-fold to RM19 billion under the current administration, alongside a recorded RM203 million revenue surplus.
Electoral Stakes and Strategic Context
The timing of the RM354.6 million total disbursement carries notable political significance as 859,760 registered voters prepare to elect representatives across 36 state assembly seats.
Pakatan Harapan is contesting all 36 seats, with ally Barisan Nasional fielding candidates in 25 constituencies. They face challenge from opposition coalitions Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional—contesting 24 and 11 seats respectively—alongside candidates from minor parties and independents.
While federal allocations for primary healthcare clinics and hospital modernizations aim to alleviate local capacity constraints, tying infrastructure delivery to state election outcomes underscores the coalition’s broader strategy: leveraging fiscal track records to secure voter confidence at the ballot box.
