KUALA LUMPUR : The vibrant spirit of Tamil heritage is set to illuminate
Brickfields as the Grand Tamil New Year Celebration 2025 (Tamil Puthandu TNY 5126)
unfolds on Saturday, 19 April 2025 (Chithirai 6) at Brickfields Little India, Kuala Lumpur.
Announced at a press conference on April 12, this much-anticipated celebration is the result
of a powerful collaboration between over 40 NGOs, temples, and community organizations.
Notably, the United Malaysian Hindu Voice stands alongside Malaysia Hindhu Dharma
Maamandram, Brickfields Rukun Tetangga, and the Brickfields Business Community Society
in spearheading this cultural initiative.

It was announced by Mr. Navindran Palasedaram, President of United Malaysian Hindu Voice, that a 20-dish traditional banana leaf meal will be served this year to 1,500 individuals. It was highlighted that no charges will be applied for either participation or food, as the initiative has been designed to foster unity and celebrate the richness of cultural heritage. The public is strongly encouraged to attend and actively take part in this meaningful celebration.
It was also conveyed that members of the media, along with social media influencers, TikTok creators, and YouTubers, will be welcomed. Their involvement is seen as essential in ensuring that the cultural and tourism elements of the event are shared widely and meaningfully with audiences around the world.
Their united presence reflects a deep-rooted commitment to preserving, promoting, and
celebrating Tamil culture in Malaysia—an effort that grows more vital with each generation.
More than just a festive gathering, this event holds significant cultural and national
importance. It seeks to:
● Foster greater appreciation for Tamil New Year traditions, particularly among the
youth.
● Serve as a cultural highlight in anticipation of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026).
● Showcase the richness of Tamil arts, music, dance, cuisine, and games to both local
and international audiences.
