KUALA LUMPUR — Waste management company Alam Flora Sdn Bhd promises full cooperation with authorities after a garbage lorry crashed through a perimeter wall at Pantai Hillpark early yesterday morning.
The incident occurred around 4:10 AM on Jalan Pantai Murni 1. Police report that the compactor truck was moving downhill on a straight road when it suffered brake failure. The driver lost control of the heavy vehicle, crashed through a condominium boundary wall, and crushed three unoccupied parked cars inside the compound.
In a formal statement, Alam Flora expressed deep regret over the accident. The company confirmed that management is assisting traffic officers and regulatory agencies to establish the precise chain of events leading to the collision.
Alam Flora representatives contacted affected vehicle owners and condominium management to offer immediate support. Teams are now evaluating the property damage to arrange proper compensation and repair schedules.
The 41-year-old lorry driver suffered a left leg injury during the crash. He sought medical treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz before voluntarily lodging a report at the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Station later that afternoon.
Police administered a breathalyser test to the driver, which returned negative for alcohol. Two sanitation workers riding along the route escaped unharmed as they were standing on the road collecting waste at the moment of impact.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa confirmed that officers are investigating the case under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving. Authorities sent the truck to Puspakom for comprehensive mechanical testing to verify the reported brake malfunction.
Alam Flora noted that fleet safety remains an absolute priority. The operator is running parallel internal maintenance reviews across its entire heavy vehicle fleet to prevent similar mechanical failures in the future.
