MUMBAI, July 13 – An ordinary evening at one of South Mumbai’s oldest establishments transformed into a global social media sensation after high-profile Hollywood stars Mumbai promotions kicked off in the most authentic way possible. Acclaimed director Christopher Nolan and actors Tom Holland and Matt Damon left onlookers stunned when they bypassed luxury hotel dining halls to indulge in local street-style chai and bun maska at a historic neighborhood cafe.
The casual culinary detour occurred on Saturday evening just hours before the star-studded Indian premiere of Nolan’s highly anticipated IMAX epic, The Odyssey. Seeking a quick break before their heavy promotional obligations, the Hollywood stars Mumbai contingent walked into the 108-year-old Olympia Coffee House in Colaba, instantly sending shocked patrons into a digital frenzy.
Amusingly, the establishment’s own management remained entirely oblivious to the global stature of their unexpected guests. The team’s bodyguards and assistants had arrived earlier in the afternoon to secure the perimeter, but local staff members only piece together their identities mid-meal after stepping away to run quick search engine queries on their mobile phones.
“We honestly had little to no clue who they were at first because their team kept the order completely simple,” cafe manager Inayat Maredia shared with reporters. “It was only when the crowd began swelling outside that we Googled them and realized we were serving the real Spider-Man.”
The trio stayed for approximately 15 minutes, keeping their order light with traditional milk tea and buttered buns before rising security pressures forced an exit. A viral video captured by a fellow diner showed Tom Holland noticing a fan filming him from an adjacent table, prompting the Marvel star to smile warmly and flash a friendly victory sign directly into the lens.
Following their brief tea break, the creative team proceeded to the official red carpet event for The Odyssey, which marks the first time India has hosted a primary public screening ahead of a global Hollywood release. The film, adapted from Homer’s ancient Greek classic and co-starring Anne Hathaway and Zendaya, is scheduled to debut worldwide in theaters on July 17.
