KUALA LUMPUR — A late-night attempt to evade a police roadblock turned fatal early Thursday when a motorcyclist crashed head-on into another rider along Jalan Dewan Bahasa. The violent collision claimed the life of a 47-year-old local resident.

According to Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, the tragic accident involved a 21-year-old motorcyclist. The young rider noticed the police checkpoint ahead, made a sudden U-turn, and rode against the flow of traffic.
This dangerous maneuver resulted in a direct crash with the victim’s oncoming motorcycle just 50 meters from the roadblock.
The Catalyst: The young suspect decided to flee the checkpoint because his motorcycle was fitted with incomplete accessories.
Medical personnel rushed the older rider to Kuala Lumpur Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead due to severe head injuries.
Meanwhile, breathalyzer and urine tests confirmed that the 21-year-old suspect was sober and free of drugs. Police have detained him under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
