KTMB Keeps JB Sentral Open Despite Late Track Work

KUALA LUMPUR — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad clarified today that an upcoming temporary track closure will not halt overall operations at the JB Sentral Station. The national rail operator issued the statement to correct public misconceptions regarding the extent of the maintenance work.

The brief track suspension takes effect at 10:00 PM tonight and runs until 6:00 AM tomorrow morning. Engineers chose this late-night window to allow crews to safely install a new pedestrian overbridge truss structure. The project is a vital piece of infrastructure for the developing Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System Link.

According to KTMB, the dynamic eight-hour maintenance window only impacts two specific Electric Train Service runs. Passengers on Train 9449 and Train 9535 will end their rail journeys early at the Kempas Baru Station. From there, KTMB is providing free, dedicated intermediary shuttle buses to transport commuters straight to the main JB Sentral hub.

The rail operator has already sent direct text notifications and official alerts to all affected ticket holders. Commuters should follow all on-site signage and directions from station staff. Regular rail operations at JB Sentral will resume their standard schedules promptly at 6:00 AM tomorrow morning as soon as workers clear the tracks.
