PUTRAJAYA — The King of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, has stripped former Felda chairman Datuk Mohd Isa Abdul Samad of his prestigious “Tan Sri” title. Consequently, the ruler revoked the Panglima Setia Mahkota award. This royal decree takes effect retroactively from June 8, 2026.
The Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) confirmed the decision in an official statement today. According to the authorities, the move directly follows the former politician’s recent criminal conviction. Currently, Mohd Isa is serving his prison sentence at the Sungai Buloh Prison in Selangor.
Furthermore, this drastic action complies with the strict rules governing federal awards. Specifically, Paragraphs XXV and XXVIA of the award statutes require the immediate withdrawal of honors if a recipient receives a criminal conviction. As a result, this step ensures that federal titles maintain their absolute integrity.
Finally, the JPM emphasized that the King demands high standards for all state honors. Therefore, the government will continue to uphold the dignity of federal titles without exception
