PETALING JAYA, 11 August 2025: The Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative (MiSI) 2.0, a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) and Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), is inviting Malaysian Indian youth to apply for its fully-funded, job-linked skills training program.
The initiative, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Labour Day, aims to empower the Malaysian Indian community by providing training that directly leads to employment in priority economic sectors. MiSI 2.0 is designed to be outcome-driven, with a strong emphasis on guaranteed job placement upon successful completion of the training.
The program offers training courses lasting from one to six months, depending on the sector, and provides participants with industry-endorsed certifications. Key sectors of focus include Electrical and Electronics (E&E), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Aerospace, Global Business Services (GBS), Food Manufacturing, Tourism, and Retail.
According to Sivakumeren A. Narayanan, Group Chief Operating Officer of TalentCorp, the goal of MiSI 2.0 is not just training but also “placement, wage mobility, and building careers in sectors where Malaysia needs talent.” The program aims to secure at least 500 job placements by November 2025, with starting salaries of RM3,000 and above.
Early results from pilot placements show promising outcomes, with trainees securing positions at companies like NXP Malaysia and Dell Global.
To be eligible, applicants must be Malaysian Indians between the ages of 18 and 40, with a minimum qualification of SPM, SKM, Diploma, or Degree, and must be either unemployed or seeking career advancement.
