MOE Boosts Education Sector with Over 20,000 New Teacher Placements in 2025 

PUTRAJAYA, 14 November 2025: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has successfully addressed the critical need for teaching staff by announcing the placement of over 20,000 new teachers into schools across Malaysia during the 2025 academic year. This substantial intake is a direct and strategic effort by the government to fill long-standing vacancies and reduce the workload burden on existing educators.

The successful recruitment and deployment of such a large cohort mark a significant achievement in the MOE’s commitment to reinforcing the nation’s education system and ensuring quality instruction across all levels.

Addressing Teacher Shortages and Workload

The mass placement of 20,000-plus new teachers is a targeted move aimed at:

  • Filling Vacancies: Directly addressing the teacher shortage, particularly in core subject areas and remote, under-served regions.
  • Reducing Strain: Alleviating the excessive workload currently faced by teachers, allowing them to focus more effectively on classroom instruction and student development rather than administrative duties.
