Get ready to flip your Eggos—because Netflix has finally released the first teaser trailer for the epic final season of Stranger Things, and it’s a chaotic, action-packed thrill ride.
Set in the fall of 1987, over a year since Vecna’s rampage in Season 4, Hawkins has basically gone full post-apocalyptic. The town’s been sealed off and tossed into military quarantine, with soldiers torching everything in sight trying to stop the Upside Down from spreading. Spoiler alert: it’s not working. Demogorgons and demodogs are casually roaming around like it’s their turf now.
Meanwhile, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is back in hiding—again—while trying to help her friends hunt down Vecna for good. But don’t think he’s just sitting back and relaxing. Nope. Vecna makes a spine-chilling appearance at the end of the trailer, seemingly bending fire or a wall (or both?) to his twisted will. Classic Vecna vibes.
The trailer hits us right in the feels too—Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) is shown devastated at the grave of Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), our beloved metalhead hero from Season 4. Max (Sadie Sink) is still in a coma after her brutal showdown with Vecna, but here’s hoping she wakes up ready to kick some shadowy butt.
Everyone’s suiting up for the final showdown: Joyce (Winona Ryder) is wielding an ax like a total warrior mom, Hopper (David Harbour) goes full action hero with two grenades, and Eleven is once again dipping into a water tank to amp up her psychic powers. Oh, and did we mention Terminator legend Linda Hamilton joins the party as Dr. Kay? She’s locked and loaded, leading a squad of soldiers. Yes, really.
