JOHOR, 20 AUGUST: United Malaysian Hindu Voice (UMHV) condemned a viral video on social media in which a child is exposed to alcohol during the worship of Kula Deivam.
The President of UMHV, P. Navindran criticized contemporary religious practices, stating that they do not endorse the consumption of alcohol or meat, nor do they advocate offering these substances in rituals.
In the press release, P. Navindran said: “Complicating matters is the fact that we inhabit a diverse, multi-ethnic society, prompting us to consider how followers of other faiths perceive our religious beliefs and customs. Unfortunately, certain actions undertaken by individuals have led to the degradation of our society and its spiritual principles in the eyes of others”.
He stated “The video prompts us to reflect upon our sacred texts and legends was there ever an instance in our scriptures where such an act was condoned?”
Regardless of the viewpoint chosen religious or moral the behaviour itself seems terribly improper. Disappointingly, none has voiced their disapproval, highlighting the necessity of shared accountability in sustaining our ideals.
“Clarity is the key to a solution and there’s no proof exists that such an incident occurred in our time” according to UMHV President, P. Navindran.
As a result, all Hindus should avoid ignorance and identify individuals who hold to falsehood.
