KUALA LUMPUR, 30 October 2025: The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) has confirmed the full allocation of its RM100 million budget for 2025, directing the funds towards 34 high-impact initiatives under the Socio-Economic Development Programme for the Indian Community (PPSMI). This substantial financial commitment, now fully channeled, is designed to strengthen the Malaysian Indian community’s standing across the crucial pillars of education, entrepreneurship, culture, and social well-being.
The announcement was made by Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, who underscored the programme’s mission to ensure that no group is left behind in the nation’s development agenda. The focus remains on empowering the community and directly improving their quality of life, with all efforts rigorously managed under the accountability guidelines approved by the Prime Minister’s Department.
Targeted Initiatives for Vulnerable Groups
The funding strategy employs a targeted approach, providing direct support to the most vulnerable households while fortifying foundational community institutions. For cultural and religious infrastructure, the Dharma MADANI Programme has been allocated a significant RM20 Million to support Hindu temples and community centres.
Concurrently, the future of the community is being addressed with RM12.8 Million dedicated to upgrading facilities, equipment, and furniture at Tamil National-Type Schools (SJKT) nationwide. Critical social assistance has also been front-loaded for the needy. This includes RM10 Million in one-off aid for minor home maintenance, specifically targeting B40 Indian plantation workers. A further RM10 Million is designated for Dialysis Subsidy Assistance, providing long-term medical support to over 1,000 patients.
To reinforce the government’s promise of transparency and community trust, MITRA has committed to publishing the complete list of beneficiaries for every initiative on its official website, ensuring public verification of how the funds are distributed.
With the full disbursement expected to be finalised by next month, this concerted effort, affirmed by Deputy Minister Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, aims to create not just short-term relief but a definitive pathway for sustainable social mobility. By focusing on direct aid, education, and community infrastructure, MITRA is building a stronger, more inclusive future for the Malaysian Indian community, reflecting the core principles of the MADANI government.
