KUALA LUMPUR, March 2- Malaysia Airlines has confirmed that its flagship services to London and Paris remain operational, despite the severe closure of Middle Eastern airspace. The national carrier is currently utilizing alternative flight paths to bypass conflict zones, prioritizing passenger safety over traditional route efficiency.
The strategic shift follows a massive disruption in global aviation after coordinated strikes on Iran triggered widespread airspace restrictions. While the airline maintains its European schedule, it cautioned travelers that the necessary rerouting will result in extended flight durations for the foreseeable future.
In response to the deteriorating security situation, Malaysia Airlines has extended its flight suspensions for several key regional destinations. All services to and from Doha (DOH), Jeddah (JED), and Madinah (MED) are now grounded until at least March 4, 2026. This move follows an initial wave of cancellations that began in late February as regional airport operations became increasingly unstable.
The airline emphasized that its technical teams are monitoring the geopolitical landscape in real-time to ensure reliable operations. To mitigate the impact on travelers, Malaysia Airlines has placed support staff on standby to assist those affected by broader regional disruptions or those with urgent transit requirements.
“The safety of our passengers and crew remains our absolute priority,” the carrier stated, noting that safety standards will not be compromised for the sake of shorter travel times.
Management is urging all passengers to verify and update their contact information through the “My Booking” portal on the official Malaysia Airlines website. This ensures that customers receive immediate notifications regarding schedule changes or further route adjustments.
For real-time assistance, travelers can access the digital live chat on the airline’s portal or contact the global support center at 1 300 88 3000 (domestic) or +603 7843 3000 (international).
