KUALA LUMPUR — Premier public trustee Amanah Raya Berhad (AmanahRaya) has appointed banking veteran and Islamic finance pioneer Datuk Seri Dr. Vaseehar Hassan Abdul Razack as its Chairman, reinforcing its focus on corporate governance and strategic asset management.
Welcoming the appointment, AmanahRaya Acting Group Managing Director Jack Yap Ngee Heong stated that Vaseehar’s four decades of financial leadership will offer vital guidance to the board and management.
“His wealth of experience and strategic insight will provide strong guidance to the board and management as we continue to drive sustainable growth, strengthen governance, and deliver greater value to our stakeholders while remaining committed to serving the evolving needs of Malaysians,” Yap said in a company statement.
Four Decades Across Islamic Finance and Governance
Vaseehar brings extensive experience spanning investment banking, corporate governance, Sukuk structuring, and board leadership,
- Banking Foundations – Began his investment banking career with Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad in 1980.
- Islamic Finance Trailblazer – Served as CEO of Dallah Al Baraka Malaysia, leading strategic investment activities involving Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad and Bank Utama Malaysia Berhad. He later served as the founding chairman of RHB Islamic Bank.
- Board & Executive Roles – Currently sits on the boards of Ingress Corporation Bhd and Saturna Sdn Bhd. Internationally, he serves as a senior associate at the Kets de Vries Institute in London and an executive coach at the INSEAD Executive Centre.
Vaseehar holds a PhD in Management Science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia.
His appointment comes as AmanahRaya works to streamline estate administration, trust management, and digital services across its nationwide operations.
