The upcoming biopic Amaran, based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, is set to release globally on October 31, 2024, as a Diwali special. The film, starring Sivakarthikeyanand Sai Pallavi, explores not only Mukund’s military accomplishments but also his personal life. Mukund’s widow, Indhu Rebecca Varghese, has been actively promoting the film, adding to the buzz surrounding the release.
Sai Pallavi recently revealed that she initially had reservations about her screen time in the biopic, concerned her role might be overshadowed. To address this, she obtained a written agreement from director Rajkumar Periyasamy, whom she’s known since her early career, to ensure her scenes were not reduced.
Sivakarthikeyan, who plays Mukund, emphasized that the film isn’t solely his character’s story; it equally highlights Indhu’s role, creating a narrative around both characters. “Amaran is about two characters, Mukund and Indhu, each with equal importance,” he told India Today, adding that unlike his previous films, this one required him to embody the entire story rather than act as a central figure.
The actor also noted that Amaran will portray a full spectrum of emotions, from Mukund’s youth to his final days, making it much more than a traditional war film.
