19th February: Helping one person might not change the world, but it could change the world for one person. A TEAM of five youths collected close to RM50,000 during a 900km journey across Peninsular Malaysia to raise funds and awareness of childhood cancer.
We rise by lifting others. Brothers Chong Zen, 17, Chong Zac, 14, and childhood friends Ch’ng Xiang Zhe, 17, Yu Zemin, 18, and Lim Tzi Yuan, 17, are from Penang. The group’s “Hearts on Wheels” program was for the benefit of non-profit Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS).
The society, based in Kuching, offers assistance and support to children with childhood cancer and their families. SCCS communications executive Agatha Lee said the team embarked on their ride on Feb 5, covering more than six days from Johor to Perlis. They collected RM49,661, which exceeded their target of RM30,000. (Source The Star)
