JOHOR BAHRU – The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) has launched a double-pronged assistance strategy to address both workforce retrenchments and vernacular school welfare. The broad government framework combines national technical retraining with a massive RM20.8 million funding package for education.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan announced that KESUMA will provide immediate upskilling and reskilling opportunities for individuals who lose their jobs due to the global supply chain crisis. These pathways will be delivered through structured Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes. Displaced staff from the services, manufacturing, and construction sectors will also receive employment matching via the Social Security Organisation’s (PERKESO) MYFutureJobs platform to secure suitable career placements.
The minister unveiled these parallel recovery measures during an official community visit to Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Yahya Awal. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh also attended the launch event.
At the same venue, Ramanan introduced the RM12.8 million MADANI Furniture Initiative to upgrade facilities for 39,692 pupils and 5,290 teachers across 361 government-aided Tamil vernacular schools. Logistics teams will distribute 14 types of high-quality equipment, including tables, chairs, cabinets, and fans, in phases from this month until August.

Additionally, the government allocated RM8 million for the KALVI MADANI Programme. This targeted fund provides free tuition classes, nutritional support, learning kits, and digital devices for nearly 10,410 Indian pupils in 315 selected schools. The dual rollout aims to stabilize domestic families by improving adult employment opportunities while funding critical developmental tools for the next generation.
