PUTRAJAYA, 19 September 2025: Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, called on cooperatives to embrace digitalisation in finance, marketing, and services. During his address in Putrajaya on September 17, he stressed that this digital transformation is crucial for cooperatives to remain competitive and relevant in the evolving economic landscape. This shift is expected to enhance their efficiency and reach, connecting them with a broader market.

The deputy minister also highlighted the significant opportunities for cooperatives within the green economy. He encouraged them to lead sustainability efforts through initiatives such as sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and community-based tourism. By adopting these environmentally conscious practices, cooperatives can not only contribute to national development but also secure their long-term viability by aligning with global trends.

Ramanan’s message underscored the dual importance of technological adoption and sustainable practices for the cooperative sector. He emphasized that by leveraging digital platforms and championing green initiatives, cooperatives can position themselves as key contributors to both economic progress and a more sustainable future for Malaysia. This strategic direction aims to empower cooperatives to become robust, resilient, and forward-thinking entities.
